Just tried to buy Costco Redwood City, CA, and was denied. Said he couldn?t even find the AS4 much less anything the rear size. Only the PS2 in the front size. He said when it?s not available in the main system where you can also order online, the store has to order directly from their Michelin distributor. So maybe it?s regional based on what that regions? distributor has? I?ll try again different store close by then maybe one different county if that doesn?t work.

I can?t imagine that Michelin cars about roughly 7000 old 90s corvettes. I figure about 6000 ZR-1s still are out there and however many gs coupes there are. There must be a bigger market for them, I know mustang guys tend to go to a 315 rear on a 10.5? wheel. But there?s probably not a ton of them. Why did they decide to do this? I don?t know but I?m damned glad they did

Oh, sorry to clarify tried to get at Costco Redwood City, I thought that was the OP subject but I see not. Yes if I can't get at Costco I'll definitely go either of these, I've used both before, thanks !!!

Thanks, amazing news! I already got in touch with my uncle who's tire shop is Michelin prime partner (he owns it).

Any thoughts on the what the differences are between the Pilot Sport PS2 (extreme summer tire) and the new Pilot Sport All Season 4?
What I can find online:

PS2: Summer tire, recommended for dry & wet pavement, NOT near freezing temperatures. 9.5/32" tread depth. UTQG = 220, 20,000 mile warranty, only available in 335/35/17 for rear - not 315/35/17. tire diameter is listed as 26 rather than 25.7, standard front size is available

AS4: All season including cold weather, wet, and light snow, 10/32" tread depth, UTQG = 540, 40,000 mile warranty, available in stock ZR-1 sizes.

Personally, I don't care about light snow use and 40,000 mile warranty vs 20,000. I drive my car mostly when nice, and not in the winter. I'm not knowledgeable on tire science, but what I want to know is will one of these tires keep it's soft rubber (ie. good traction) for more years than the other? I want my tires to still be good in 5 years rather than hard and dangerous. In this regard is one better than the other?

I don't think any top notch Michelin tire gets hard and dangerous after 5 years.
Modern rubber compounds have come a long way and if treated the right way (no excessive parking in direct sunlight, etc) perform for a long time.
As far as Michelin is concerned I'd expect they use the best stuff available for their tires.

@MattB, good thoughts. I'm thinking more in comparison to a Toyo Proxy R888 or Nitto NT01, both of them are UTQG 100 compound tires, considered quality tires, and do harden after a few years. They would be more similar to the compound used in the PS2 as it won't perform in the cold. I'm thinking there is enough difference in the tire compound used in in Toyo R888 / Nitto NT01 and the Michelin PS2 that the PS2 can be a good choice for a car that gets used under 3,000 miles / year.

Same story for me in DFW Texas area - I went in to Costco last week and they gave me all the item numbers so I'd be ready as soon as the Michelin special started today. Unfortunately, when I went back today at lunch and tried to order I was told they are unavailable from the manufacturer. The sale goes on til May 17th. so maybe I'll try again or just go to Discount Tire when they have them in May.
