Thats the place I was looking at today. Good to have a recommendation. Nice, too, that I can build a dual rectifier, 350 amp version of the alternator! |
Re: Anything unique about a LT-5 Alternator?
Yeah the dual rectifier might not fit. Also you limitation for power is the rotor
I bought a rotor I have a stator out of a 140 amp late model. I bought the heavy duty rectifier DR5176PF and I am still using the original regulator.. according tho that shop and the guy there I have about the max you can do with their parts |
Re: Anything unique about a LT-5 Alternator?
I'm impatient. I got mine from Auto Zone and had it swapped the next day. No issues.

Oh I bought one local and then rebuilt mine I will build another too then have a spare

Re: Anything unique about a LT-5 Alternator?
I made the mistake of taking one apart for a rebuild, getting side tracked and not getting back to it right away and got the spacers mixed up. Anybody got the dimensions on the spacers and placement?

Re: Anything unique about a LT-5 Alternator?
Which spacers?

Re: Anything unique about a LT-5 Alternator?
I am a little confused. My alternator died so I bought a kit to rebuild it. However, after installing it, it still was not producing voltage so I replaced it with a 250 amp Powermaster unit from Summit. Here is why I'm confused. I thought my alternator was a CS144 but the wiring harness could not be plugged in. The CS130 alternator I purchased fit exactly as the original and the factory connector plugged into it as it should. Did you have to change the connector to be able to plug it into your CS144 unit as the connectors are a totally different shape?

Re: Anything unique about a LT-5 Alternator?
CS130 and CS144 should have the SAME connections. I did a CS144 upgrade on my old 89 which had a CS130.. direct connection..
Maybe you bought a different CS144 setup.. there are some different ones out there |
