Re: 1990 fog lights

Well, I am officially impressed. These came from Vette-lights.com.
They are a true plug and play, change the bulbs, and the ballast interupts the factory plugs with no cutting or hacking.
The only hiccup was getting the bulbs installed, a little tricky on a 90.

Glad this went relatively well, Steve.

Interesting timing in that I just finished (today) a mod to get these to work in my'91. Like several other Registry members, I could not get these to work reliably without providing power more directly to the ballasts through a relay controlled by the factory fog light circuitry. Like others that had this problem, I could get either one light or the other to come on, but not both; it was always a race as to which one would illuminate first. I looked for a bad ground as the source of the problem, but could find none. These lights are exceptional and well worth the mod.

Odd that people had this issue. Never did that come up in my install 3 years ago. They've worked great from the start.

I had this problem on my 91 as well. One light would want to dominate the other and they would rarely run in pairs.

So mine is a late 92 car. perhaps something changed. I used the Corvette Mods kit.

I've had no issues with them coming on, but as stated, installing the bulbs was a real pain.

Correct.. 91-96 are a different design. 84-90 are the first design.

I may try this on my 90 with the 91 body. I have to wait now until winter as it was 109 yesterday. Ugh. Summer is here. GC

Re: 1990 fog lights

I went to HID driving/fog lights on my 94 and had no issue.
It is strange that some are finding the right and the left side fighting for juice...

Jeff,

I was thinking more along the lines of electrical updates.
