I have a guy in my office who is a member of the Mustang club, said they just didn't have enough cars so rent the track. Their club has been burned in the past with paying the track fee up front and only a few cars showed up so they don't pay up front anymore. They need 40 cars paid up front to secure the track fee, so if folks want to run, they need to sign up early. The is the second drag day they have had to cancel, they may not do any more. The Northern VA Corvette club doesn't seem to support this event anymore, so the drag racing days may be coming to an end at Mason Dixon.
