Re: Fuel tank geometry [water in fuel]...
my 9:1 compression f-150 302 would burn that off just fine mixed in with a little newer gasoline. I love getting bad gas for my truck so i don't have to spend $100 filling both tanks.
This seems to be going around a lot. I'm working off a second tank of gasoline on my 91 trying to get the dilution low enough to where it stops the little hesitation. first tank with the original fill of the bad gas- it stalled coming to a light and really acted up coming off of coast, but now it is just barely there. hoping to get the tank really low before I fill again. I wonder what recourse I would have with the station that got me. |

Boy I had plenty of that in my younger dumber days. The stories I could tell... And I have gotten water in my tanks of my DD's before - mostly at one Costco here. Not enough to have to go to Schrade's extremes - but enough so that they ran like crap. I am picky about where I get gas for the Z - usually Phillips 66 or Shell V-power... |

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Is the issue of water in gas that is purchased from the pump actually coming off the truck contaminated with H2O, or is the water being introduced by the storage tanks/facility? If its from the gas station itself, I would think that purchasing a certain brand wouldnt help much. If the water in gas is actually coming off the truck contaminated, that's shameful. |
Re: Fuel tank geometry [water in fuel]...
I've never see water pumped into my tank with bad gas at a gas station.
I owned a fleet of delivery vehicles, usually spent $300 - 400 / DAY on gas from EVERYwhere on the East Coast, when it was $1.79 gal. NEVER saw water in gas... My water got in when the filler neck guard got plugged twice in a week, with HEAVY rain. |

Post 24 hrs:
as you can see, the proportion of water in each jug, pumped about 15 minutes apart, is the same. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2...4/IMG_6658.JPG and side-by-side comparison: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-z.../IMG_6657a.JPG Blow-up of ridges: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8...4/Untitled.jpg |

I think I probably had 1.5 gallons of water in the tank.
That really bothers me, that I keep the tank full, and even removing the cap to gas up with 3/4 tank full, I hear the hiss of atmospheric pressure, and STILL the water got in, when the drain plugged up, at the filler neck... http://www.zr1.net/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif I decanted off about 8 gallons of fuel, and filled the lawnmower, and my little sewing machine Nissan truck... |
