Here's my "ideal' ZR-1 hood. I would love it if someone could knock off a mold from the active suspension car, (double click for close-up).
It's functional, but not too "boy racer" looking. The vents are functional, (on sides, not visible), are not to my liking. Possibly source functional vents from a '91-'94 Lumina (see below) with provisions for drainage. Slight rise with a larger power bulge to clear the LT5, perfect. |
Re: Cowl rise hoods
I can tell you from personal experience vents in the hood and rain. Not a good combination.

Re: Cowl rise hoods
One of the aspects of the C4 body style is rather pure. Its flowing and has very few interruptions or distractions. The hood is a large seamless expanse. The vents just "gunk it up" IMO.

Re: Cowl rise hoods
unless the vents are not open and functional.. It should be up to the buyer if they want them functional

Re: Cowl rise hoods
I really liked the 2.75" taller Toledo Pro on my 90. It was well-made and fit was excellent.
http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s.../clint_zr1.jpg Wouldn't recommend their 4" taller hood, though. Those are hard to see over. |
Re: Cowl rise hoods
well the vents on this hood will be open..guess I will keep looking

Re: Cowl rise hoods
I think it is a 4" rise. The bulge flows all the way down, nearly to the front lip of the hood. If I had that hood, I would have to have a 415 or twin turbo underneath it. It's like a rocker with a rolled up sock in his pants.
Clint's looks just right to me. But, I think from head on it might not be quite so subtle. It's tough to improve on the efforts of GM styling. That's why I like the subtle bump of the Active suspension car, above. I also think it's possible to have vents that have good water drainage. You see more cars today with vents in the hood than ever before. :dontknow: |
Re: Cowl rise hoods
No that is not the 4" it is the TP 2.75" only only you can get.. Same as USAZR1
