The 4 torx screws that rust out and get stuck are steel, but it may be possible there is a local dissimilar metals chemistry cocktail that occurs in the square part of those coolant pipe assemblies if you don't drive the car very often.
I had to drill the head off of a couple of mine when I took them off, but luckily the thread itself wasn't too seized and vice grips took care of things. |

Coolant can be corrosive to aluminum and once the anti-corrosion additves locally deplete (as in a car that sits) the aluminum gets eaten.
Good reason to start periodically and watch the pH of the coolant before/after running up to temp. Good news on finding the replacement. - Jeff |
