Default Bad amps?

Just to sanity check before I go ordering new parts, what are the symptoms of the amps going bad? Right now I have a constant, heavy, static noise coming from both the front speakers. It's present as soon as the power is turned on, and bad enough that you have to crank the volume just to hear anything.

I used the amps out of a Nissan that had a BOSE system when my rear amps dies. I ended up swapping everything over including the new speakers etc and retained the ZR1 speaker/amp casing. Fit's like a glove. The speakers came out of a 2005 Pathfinder but almost any year should work provided it came with the BOSE system.

My amps went out. I called Bose, they sent me 4 new ones, at $75.00 each, plus shipping. They did not want my old ones. I changed all 4 out in 3 hours. You can get instructions on this site. I bought instructions for $10, on the internet from a site mentioned in ZR1registry.
