WTB: fuel pump
Anybody got fuel pump (primary) sitting around they'd be willing to part with? Apparently my main pump is getting tired (has stranded me twice now within the last few month when driven for a decent amount of time (45 min +)).
I've pulled the pin C21 to run both pumps full time for now, but need to replace the failing one. And yeah, I've read Marc's article on converting to a single pump, but I kind of like the idea of having a dual pump design in case one fails. Also, any negatives to just leaving pin C21 disconnected permanently so both pumps always run? I can't see any negatives other than more wear/tear on the 2nd pump, but given the little I drive the car (<3,000 miles a year) it shouldn't matter. Evan

The problem with Lingenfelter is that they do not have pumps in stock. No promise date when I talked to them last month. Made in China is a problem that won't get better soon. O'Reilly's can fix you up with pumps from Federal Mogul.

Re: WTB: fuel pump
I went with Ac Delco pumps. Only ones I could find that weren't made in China.

On a side note, I've had new ball joints fail in 5K miles, 1/2 shafts in my H3 Alpha click when new, vac parts fail for our 380SL and the list goes on! The warranties dont mean squat your just going to get the same crappy part as a replacement. I do ALL my vehicle maintenance and I hate doing things twice. Its AC Delco parts and Mercedes factory parts from now on our cars. |
