Default My car has every Selective Ride Control fault code

My 1991 ZR-1 car was initially having an intermittent "service ride control" message that eventually became consistent. I jumped the A & C terminals on the ALDL got the following codes in the following order:

12, 13, 14, 21, 22, 23, 41, 42, 43, 34, 33, 32, 31, 12.

I figured with this many codes that it was probably the module itself, so I bought (supposedly) tested one off of ebay with the same number ending in 644 and got the exact same code sequence. I did pull both front actuators off and when the key was turned, they both activated, and i did drive the car some distance to eliminate the whole 3 starts without driving it error.

Not sure what to try next...SRC switch?...ideas?

There is additional information on SRC trouble shooting at this web address:

http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...fx3/index.html

Beyond that, you may need a copy of the Factory Service Manual for it's SRC troubleshooting information.

In this case, the Service Manual is your friend, unless you want to just start replacing parts and potentially spend a lot of money.

The SRC system has a software bug that causes all of the codes to set. This happens when there is at least one error and the ignition key is turned on many times. I think that it takes at least 40 ignition on cycles to cause the reporting malfunction.

To proceed, clear the errors. Then wait for the first fault to occur after the clear. Access it right away. That error code will get recorded and reported correctly.

Once again, Marc may have saved the day.

Question: does this bug occur in all the Bosch controllers, i.e: early production 89-91, late production 92-95 and motorsports?

ok, tried to clear the errors, and failed, apparently. Let me describe what I am doing and maybe someone can tell me if I'm doing it wrong.
I am grounding A to C on ALDL, which is what I would normally do to get the SRC codes. Then I turn the ignition to "run" for 2 seconds and back to off again and repeat twice for a total of 3 times...and all codes remain the next time I turn the key to run with the jumper in. Any ideas?

And progress...

This time I went out and turned the ignition on and jumpered A & C 3 times with the ignition on the whole time ( had tried this before, but I think I wasn't grounding for the required 2 seconds) , and the codes cleared, all except for code 21.

That indicated a left front actuator issue. I pulled the actuator off and it did move back and forth when the ignition was turned on. The FSM then pointed to the connector, so I re-seated the connector and the "Service Ride Control" light is no longer on!

Yay! Thanks everyone for the help in clearing this up!

Glad to hear about the progress. Resetting the codes was a challenge for me, too.

Did you have someone helping you to do this?

Reason for asking: I was alone and tried the following: Disconnect battery negative battery cable, turn ignition on, position myself near the left front shock so I could monitor the actuator, reconnect battery cable.

Later I read that I should NEVER do that (connect battery cable while ignition is on) because it can ruin the ECU.

I guess I was lucky and did no damage.

I did it by myself. Fortunately, I could position the actuator where I could see the mechanism move when I turned the key on. This only worked because it was the left front shock...any other shock would've been too far away to make it a 1-person job.

I know that the 'all codes set' malfuction occurs on the '89 to '91 controllers. I don't recall seeing it on the '92 to '95 controllers. But I don't encounter as many of them since the last four model years are only about 30% of the entire ZR-1 population.
