How to remove throttle cables?
The Helm's manual totally glosses over this saying "remove" them from the throttle body. But since I seem to be a dope, and since the lever part seems to be plastic, it seems better I ask a dumb question than snap off the plastic and ruin the throttle body. How do you get the little metal cylinders at the end of the cables out of the plastic levers/pulleys? Thanks!

Re: How to remove throttle cables?
Two ways to do it.
Manually open the blades, jab the handle end of a screwdriver into the ports to hold the blades open. Then remove the cables. Manually open blades, use screwdriver to jam the throttle linkages open and hurridly pull the cables out before the screwdriver comes out and your fingers get snapped. Also once you get the cable tips off, there is a retaining tab on the black mount where they slide through. You need to push from the front side a small piece of plastic, then it slides over. I'll host a photo in a couple of hours when i get home. |

Here is a shot from the rear of the TB. You can get to the locking part directly from the front.

Re: How to remove throttle cables?
Thanks Jeff! I need to get a new gasket first, as I'm sure I won't be able to reuse mine. Then I'll see if I can't fix this idle issue with the secondaries.

Re: How to remove throttle cables?
Bob, I have the "gasket" kit from GM, it has both big gaskets, coolant plate gasket and the o-ring for the IAC. It's 30.00 and I can send it with the vacuum tube if you wish. You can send me another check later.
