Cold Air intake
Does anyone make a cold air intake for the ZR-1? (SLP Excluded)
Would there be an interest in one....thinking making a reversed cold air intake that looks stock...would require radiator shroud mod. Any thoughts?

Re: Cold Air intake
It's not worth it, save the $500 (with paint costs) and buy yourself some booze.

Re: Cold Air intake
No, not buying one...having one made and then selling them for a reasonablle price.

Re: Cold Air intake
This has been discussed here and on CF numerous times, any HP advantages would be negligible unless probably over 100 MPH. Most say there is no gain at all.
Also, it can cause problems if your car is driven in the rain. |

Re: Cold Air intake
I think the idea has merit. I'd like to see something kinda like the Callaway honker - only with a scoop on the bottom to help feed it. The Vararam design looks even better offering a more direct flow path but creates packaging problems with a large filter.

Re: Cold Air intake
is there anything wrong with the SLP CAI? I was thinking about that one...my previous LT4 had that CAI and it seemed fine.

Re: Cold Air intake
Just an opinion......the three filter thing on the SLP is a no go to me.

Re: Cold Air intake
I would be interested in other options myself. I have an Automotive Performance International, Inc. CAI and it came with my Z so I have nothing to compare it with. I am happy with it, but have no idea if it is good or not and have never seen it part of any dyno testing, etc. I had an interest in the quite expensive Coplon Air Blaster (I think that is what it was called) but was told he decided not to make any more because it did not give the desired output; I just thought it looked cool. At one time I thought about the claw from SLP or whatever it is called and wondered about the cold air theory for that design.

Was it you who did some testing on several CAIs in the past? I vaguely remember something like that, but then again......my memory really sucks. |
