Re: Home Car Lifts
I thought this thread needed an update. After much research, this past summer I bought a Direct Lift Pro Park 8S for my 21'x21' two car garage with an 18' door. I have posted quite a few pictures in my Album section--just click on my avatar. I paid $2,100 for it plus another $900 for shipping and installation and a 90 degree bracket to move the motor parallel to the ramps instead on the side (as a result I now have about 24 inches from the wall to the post an can get out of my car and get by it with no problem.) My ceiling is between 9'8" and 10'. I raised the garage door tracks to within 6 inches of the ceiling (and later cut off a section of the door top brace to be able to bring my BMW in forward--the satellite radio antenna was hitting.) Also installed a jackshaft opener which I really like-- a Liftmaster 3800 and it is quiet. I ran surface mounted conduit from the old opener's duplex for outlets for the opener and the lift motor/charger. I have swapped cars several times a week for most of the time since installation and it works fine. 10 minutes max to swap cars. Anyone in the Chicago area is welcome to come see it. – Bob
