Not that I could afford it anyway but this may be one of those “don’t buy the first model year” times. I luv the way they quote Corvette Forum as though they some sort of authoritative information.

This part of the article is especially unsettling... and we thought cars could be hacked already.

“Sherman's intel corroborates electrical trouble, saying it's part of GM's adoption of a new writing architecture. GM product chief Mark Reuss talked about the Global B electrical system in 2015. A Reuters report said Global B would "move much of a vehicle's computer power to the ... cloud," and in doing so enable over-the-air updates. To ensure privacy, it's said GM conferred with Boeing and military contractors about network security. Sherman wrote that "100 or more computer modules per vehicle communicate on CAN (computer area network) bus," and Corvette engineers are — or were — having a tough time getting all those nodes on the same team.”

They are a poor bunch of engineers that can’t get the nodes to communicate. Getting updates from the “Cloud” in downtown Detroit is old school. WT?

Who was the engineer that didn’t stress test the frame design at different horsepower level. Jerk!

Somebody should be let go at GM!

Dave McClellan tells a story in Corvette From The Inside about rumors that were circulating throughout the press about the LT5 engine having overheating problems. In reality, the "overheating problem" did not exist; it had to do with the engineers trying to address the yellowing of the Arctic White paint in certain areas of the car's hood due to heat. He surmised that the "problem" was being reported to the press by a mole who wasn't quite close enough to the car's development to really understand what was happening, thereby spreading rumors that were completely bogus.

Every vehicle has teething pains during development, so maybe it's best to view all of this speculation with some healthy skepticism.

Agreed. It is hard to believe that GM engineers are that clueless. Although electrical engineers are not network engineers, and metallurgical engineers are not mechanical engineers. I can understand they might work in cylos. But with all the testing, this should have been identified a lot sooner.

But I agree, nothing can be trusted in this fake news world.
