90-95 Power steering pump solution
Howdy. Passing this information onto the brotherhood. Cliff please save this info. When sourcing a power steering pump for an early 90 or 91 Z a power steering pump appears the same as a standard pump on all C4s 84 up to a 91. You will see this at Ecklers and Rock auto for instance.
They are not.. The power steering pumps ARE ZR-1 specific. if you are not getting a cast iron vs aluminum body its not the right pump as the bosses and threaded portions are wrong. So. SOLUTION?.. Volvette.com has a 90-95 Power Steering rebuilt pump part number 4PS80D there is a core charge but its is a cast iron body like the original. To the left you see the rebuilt cast iron pump. Pics 2 and 3 are the aluminum incorrect replacement next to the old pump. BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT?.. Power Steering pumps for ZR-1s are ALL ZR-1 specific for the 90-95 model years. GC.
