What plugs and wires do you guys recommend on the LT5?

I use to run AC Delco Rapidfire #5 and AC Delco wires - non-logo orange color wires. A few years ago, AC Delco went to platinum tips for Rapidfire plugs. Since I could no longer find original Rapidfire plugs, I went to NGK Iridium plugs and had no issue. I still use AC Delco plug wires. Heat range - that's one of those interesting subject...

I still have the original wires and plugs. But low miles. Runs great.

Jerry's Gaskets sells LT5 wire sets - new, NOS, etc.

I have a set of used wires from my old LT5. They are all there except 1 wire was replaced an aftermarket one. I will let them go cheap.

Following Pete P's recommendation, for 11 years now I've been using the AC Delco 41-602s.

They aren't made of rare earth - just good ol copper. They work as well as the Iridium (Champion) plugs do, but I can buy 4 or 5 of the 41-602s for the cost on ONE of the exotics.
(They) won't last as long some say? Well, at ~ $2/plug vs $9-10+/plug I can afford to replace them every season. And, with the LT5. it is so easy to get to the plugs there's no need to spend big $ for plugs that last 20k+ miles (and suffer those last few k miles with dying plugs). I can put in new plugs every season or two - and also assess how each cylinder's injectors are working while I'm at it.

These plugs in the photo are some 41-602s I pulled out for inspection that have been in service for two seasons (~6k miles). They're practically like new! What do you think?

This is what Marc Haibeck said:

"We use NGK TR5IX spark plugs. They come with a 1 mm gap. Don't change the 1 mm gap.

The wires almost never cause a problem. You should not replace them unless we have more evidence identifying them as a problem. If you do replace the wires, we use the AC-Delco wires for the LT5. They fit better than any other brand. I can provide a part number if necessary."

I have a '95 (#386) w/25k mi & what appears to be original plugs (AC 907s) which looks to be the same as 41-907 in owner's manual. Manual says gap .050" & plug I took out (#3) was just that. Car runs good & smooth, but from what I gather, plugs s/b changed. Maybe it will run even better. Easy & cheap enough.

I see reference to 41-602s. Is that same as 907? Car is not raced, just plain old spirited street driving. My inclination is to go with copper ACs, but i saw 1 reference that Haibeck recommends NGK TR5IX.

Thoughts welcome.

the lt5 has a very efficient combustion chamber and the stocker stuff works great to 700 hp


I've tried all the fancy plugs and wires and stuff and like the



ngk
delco
denso


all work really well and I've dynoed the car and can say there really isn't any difference


I would recommend the delcos and change them more often as it's good to inspect the plugs


last time I pulled $6 water shot out
