On Day 10, we spent the morning photographing lighthouses on the eastern end of Prince Edward Island:

This lighthouse at Point Prim is the only round masonry construction lighthouse in Canada:

After lunch we drove 250 miles to Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

On Day 11, we left Antigonish and drove the Hawkesbury, the gateway to Cape Breton Island. Our route took us around the Cabot Trail a very scenic route around the peninsula:

The western shore of Cape Breton Island is very scenic. There are many small coves and harbors, home to numerous fishing and excursion boats:

A little further up the coast, at Margaree Harbor, we were photographing the scenery and the Corvette when we noticed that we were being observed by a seal:

Then another seal joined the party:

The Cabot Trail is one of the most beautiful and scenic routes I have driven. This was our second time to do the drive and we still were awed by the scenery. The road is in fairly good condition, with some maintenance in progress to upgrade the road. There are numerous pull outs and over looks. It is worth the trip to Nova Scotia to make the drive.

We stopped at an Information Station for brochures and I found a parking space appropriate for the ZR-1:

We have driven 2,500 miles on this trip so far and the PurpleZ is performing flawlessly. We have gotten many nice comments about the ZR-1 from people we have met. There are very few Corvettes on the road here.

The HMCS Onandaga is a retired Canadian diesel electric submarine that served with distinction from 1965 to 2000. It is now a museum ship. Lyndi and I took a tour of the sub and found it to be in very good condition and well presented.

This is the Maneuvering Room where the electric motors that propel the submarine are controlled:

The Commanding Officer's Stateroom is smaller than the stateroom on my submarine. But the wood work furnishing are a nice touch that we didn't have on US submarines:

In the Control Room, I brought back some memories with a turn around the periscope:

The HMCS Onandaga museum was very nice but I had two disappointments. There is no connection at the display with the submariners that served on the ship. None were named and there isn't any log or records of the crews. Secondly, there has been an attempt to broaden the audience for the museum by making a connection to the "Yellow Submarine" made popular in a Beatles song. The bow of the HMCS Onondaga has been painted with cartoon characters and a peace symbol.

I live in Rimouski and I enjoyed your pictures! Funny to see another ZR-1 in Rimouski! The painting on the Onondaga is beyond stupid I totally agree with you. It didn't need that paint.

Great pictures though, I asked some local car guys if they saw you and nobody seems to have spotted you...

We travelled from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland on the Marine Atlantic ferry MV Leif Ericson. The boarding process was very easy:

On the ferry there were 5 levels for parking vehicles. 2 of the levels are below the main deck. After the cars drive down the ramp, the ramp is raised and cars parked on top:

After loading the vehicles, the bow rmp is raised and the bow doors closed and we got underway:

As we left the harbor we got to photograph a light house from the ship channel side:

After a very comfortable 6-hour cruise, we sighted the lentrance light of Port au Basque, Newfoundland:

Enjoying being in the jump seat, Jim and Lyndi. Good luck going up the Northern Peninsula and over to Labrador. I am sure you'll have great pictures of the lower portion of trip with travel through Gross Morne.
