For vague steering, if suspension components pass the shake test then check your rag joint. I found mine to be loose at one point, then I replaced it with the hockey puck style (from a z51 car) - that was a welcome change.

Cheers,
- Jeff

Is the rag joint in the engine bay on the steering shaft?

Yessir. Down by the steering rack. It's probably housed in a finicky plastic shroud if memory serves.

Cheers,

So it looks like I need a brace and a press to get some of these bushings out of the suspension components. My question is should I buy a press and do this portion myself OR take the components to CarQuest and have them press out and press in the bushings and balljoints?

Is the bushing replacement possible to be done within a weekend? Can it be done on really high jackstands vs. a lift?
