The 454 would fit in your car 🚙 and save the LT5 for when you are ready to sale your car in an other twenty five years!

It does not matter the CI if they are making same power.
The 454 peaked at 6100 where as a modded 350 LT5 peaks at 6700+ RPM.

Phil,

IIRC ur running 4.10s w 19” in back. So cruise at about 75-80mph is coming in at 1900-2100rpm. Same as mine is currently. Part of taming drone has to do w the tune itself. The better and more spot on it is, the sweeter the exhaust note. The richer the tune, the more likely u’ll have drone especially as MAP increases, ie inclines. Which is why I like to tune the cruising areas of the VE tables just just slightly lean, say a 130-131 BLM.
My exhaust consists of 1 7/8” coated Watsons, w 3” ID pipe into
Stainless Works X-pipe(no bafflling), then into 3”ID DynoMax Ultraflo dual outlet mufflers topped off w C6Z06 NPP tips(thx Al)Normally run w one outlet switched to Closed.

I will also add is that Drone is relative.. what some might not hear or feel as drone, might affect others.. I had Corsa on my 1990 with headers and cats, there was no drone, but at WOT I did not like it.. cruising around was much better (to me). Now I have a Stock LT4 system behind my Headers and Cats. if I were to change anything I would swap out the mufflers, but the LT4 system is the Highest flow stock C4 system out there. I am finally at the point where I am just leaving it alone

My findings as well ... I tried at least 5 systems before deciding the LT4 was best for me. I installed QTP cutouts that dumped just before the stock mufflers. The cutouts were variable from open to closed and when wide open the HP increase was close to 20 HP on the dyno. Totally closed on the LT5 (ported, headers, no cats) the sound was better than stock and could easily be "sweetened" up by partially opening each cutout to taste, all the while with absolutely no resonance. Not counting all the after market systems I bought this mod was actually the best bang for the buck exhaust mod possible that achieved my goal of sound, performance, and no resonance. I'm fairly certain that my cost was less than $500 for the system.

Funny you have pictures of the cutouts installed on your system?

Since you already like the LT4 exhaust I think you will really like/appreciate the addition of QTP's to your exhaust. Extremely versatile, they add a whole different dimension to the system. LINK to QTP

As you might imagine, Gunny, I certainly second your thoughts. And you did a nice installation, which I had not seen before. Good work!--Bob
