Sorry Gents, I should have been more clear in my post #2.
I don't think my 25 HP gain was necessarily from the B&B
X-pipe, but more from removing the Borla resonator.
Mark H agrees that it's a HP robber.

Why I didn't just go with straight pipes? I believe the X-pipe
cancels out some of the sound waves and if it is straight
enough, doesn't restrict the exhaust very much. I do not
have any straight vrs. X-pipe HP (or sound) data for my system.

Pete, Not trying to get to far off track just understand how the gains in HP are so great.

Great information, it leads me to a couple of other questions regarding exhaust systems.

1. Is the gain in HP also a result of the 3" pipes over the Corsa 2.5"

2. How does the pipe diameter effect HP & torque. I always thought as the diameter of the pipes went up you could stand a chance to lose torque, or the gains were only HP with no = gain in torque.

Thanks.

The Corsa muffler has 1 outlet at the muffler 2 1/4".

Need to have correct size for the maximum performance across the board.
Some do not choose exhaust for max performance but rather for sound.

Which exhaust system available in today market has the highest flow capacity, with and without cutouts? I have a 2.5” Corsa system on now behind the 427 but the beast wants more flow capacity. Are there any high flowing 3” systems out there that are drone free at cruising speed like the Corsa system?

Hey Phil,

I’m not sure, but I thought only the BBE Fusion? I know a couple folks here have it and hopefully will chime in. If I were in the market this is the one I would buy.

That’s on a 454, how about a 350, less volume to start with?
