I've done two now and think it's the way to go. Gives a great feel to the shifter. If your half way mechanically inclined, you'll have no problem doing the install. Taking my time and removing the exhaust system, it took me about 5 hours the first time. The second time it only took about two hours. Although do-able without removing the exhaust I don't recommend it if you've never done it before. Makes for a good weekend project.

I see on the zr1registry it is $135 shipped...

Is that an incredible price or does somebody else have a better price?

Thanks!

Thanks for the advice guys, when I get more time I'm going to do this one for sure....and install the beam plates while I'm at it.

Don't discount a "Bill Boudreau modified" B&M shifter. I had Bill modify the one that is currently in my car...holy crap is it awesome. On the other hand...don't bother installing an UNMODIFIED B&M shifter...it is PURE CRAP. Bill knows how to fix 'em up good! Better than the Hurst in my opinion. Call Bill and he will tell you all about your "options". www.zfdoc.com Great guy and great service!

Sounds good and easy. But is there any kind of enhanced wearout to the ZF transmisson or other parts ?

I have this thoughts because I got such a short shifter in a other former car make where was rumored there could be enhanced wearout. But if so then it is probably negligible.

BTW: if you loose the reverse gear ring, shifting is just like in the other gears only without any safety barricade, isnt`t it ?
