Be Ready for the Road by Jim Voter

I have traveled a lot of miles on road trips and have helped many other ZR-1 owners with repairs at events and in parking lots. Over the years, I have compiled a collection of tools, parts and supplies that I keep in my ZR-1 all the time. In order to carry all this stuff, I remove the "liner" and tire jack (moved to the spare tire) from the storage compartment behind the passenger seat. I have 1994/1995 Z's, the arrangement in the earlier years storage compartment may be different. The only things that I don't carry in the compartment is a 12-volt tire inflator and the jumper cables. When you have a dead battery you cannot open the rear hatch, and with a rear hatch full of luggage, you can not get to the jumper cables. I learned this the hard way in Canada on the way to Alaska.




My theory on the parts I carry is that they can be replaced in a parking lot but may not be available locally without a delay for shipping the part from a remote supplier.
