Finally passed Ca smog,what a pain in the @$$! - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

Well,got the thing smogged.Had to take the car to a State smog referee to get it done.The car had a max Nox level at 15 MPH of 250,25 MPH of 340 opposed to 500 and 702 the first time I failed.What was different this time was I removed the Haibeck chip and replaced with stock,removed open air cleaner lid and replaced with stock,replaced both 02 sensors with new.The one thing I forgot when I failed was the air cleaner coupling clamp was loose.Would this loose clamp sucking air from the coupling cause any problems?I know that sounds minor but when there isnt anything that makes sense on the failed test Im looking for anything I can find.Thanks for all the info in previous post,Jeff.

probably the O2 sensors and the chip. Didn't you say you took the chip out on another failed test (it ran a little cleaner though, right?)

There is a very fine stoichometric zone where the CO&HC are minimized, but a little further lean and the NOx spikes. Too rich and the CO/HC goes up of course. I think having fresh O2's helped get a true lambda balance.

When you change chips or programming you have to run the vehicle long enough to let the computer adjust the mixture to stoichemetric. Did you run it long enough after installing the stock chip?
