Default Fuel Pressure while driving

Although my car runs well I have been wanting to try Dynomite’s fuel pressure test conducted with an extension hose to monitor pressure while driving. Using the priming terminal, the pumps will draw 9.8 amps and 4.5 amps each with the respective fuses isolated. But does the secondary pump really turn on when I hit the go pedal while driving?
So with the extension hose and pressure gage on the dash I went for a drive. I expected that as fuel demand goes up there would be step change in pressure when the secondary pump came on.
Instead, what I saw was that at idle the pressure sat at 42 psi and as I stepped on the gas pedal regardless of engine or car speed the pressure would rise smoothly and proportionate to the gas pedal. Pressure rises to 52psi by the time the pedal was about ½ way down. Any momentary or sustained WOT resulted in a 52psi pressure. So all is good.

Great information ......I think you are referring to my friend (Paul Workman) who invented and documented that on the go fuel pressure test. The information you provided herein is interesting and would be a great additional baseline for anyone conducting that Paul Workman on the go fuel pressure Test in the future

Checking fuel pressure TIPS

I think Paul had a fuel pressure gauge taped to front of windshield

Oh, you're right, Paul was the original poster.
Thanks Paul - btw it was good meeting you at Carlisle Friday afternoon. I was the guy with the yellow Steelers hat.

Thanks,
Roger

Likewise! It was a fun group, and great gathering!

Oh, and FWIW, my fuel pressure (from memory...huh-oh) is 44 ± at steady level cruise, even with secondaries deleted. Then at WOT it would jump to 54 psi ± a #.

I never ramped it slowly up to WOT to see how the pressure changed. Wish I had. My observations was either light throttle - intended to see what the pressure was at light throttle, and then at WOT only. No mid range pressure data, unfortunately.
