It's Alive....!
Finally finshed the winter (er.. late winter early spring) project. Did the ported and polished plenum & injector housings. Cleaned everything up while I was in there, changed out the coils to High Output Jegs coils and replaced the breather box hoses and gasket. Installed stainless bolts. Injectors and wires were done previously. Painted everything, cam covers included. That was a pain removing the cam covers. Used a Wurth BMW Silver wheel paint and clear coat. Came out nice. Thanks to Lgaff for the great porting job. The only dicey part was doing the port matching on the heads and a couple of broken bolts. Got her back together today, she started right up and ran smooth. No codes (fingers crossed). I bypassed the coolant to the plenum and sealed off the passage in the injector housing and did away with the plumbing. This does reqiure a little extra care in burping to cooling system to get the air out. Now to find a dyno to see the results (including the headers, corsa and Haibeck chip I did last year).
Here's a few pix... before - during - after.... Before... not too bad but showing it's 19 years, faded and blotchy, the picture doesn't show it. During... ahhh I like clean... After... ooohhh shiney... No time left today for much of a ride, the wife was pissed that I spent Easter working on the car. The perfect easter if you ask me. H

Hey Hans,
That BMW silver really looks great. You've really done wonders with your Zee.

Re: It's Alive....!
Hans,
That Bimmer Silver looks great. Can someone who works for MB use a Bimmer color on their ZR??? You don't need the TB coolant bypass anymore since you plugged plenum passage? Install a bleeder valve for coolant? Last edited by XfireZ51; 04-12-2009 at 11:05 PM. |

Re: It's Alive....!
Hans did you end up using the neon hose for the breathers?
