Default FIA World Speed Records

Whilst at the NCM, I asked if the 24-hour record holding ZR-1 still held the 5000 mile record. Nope. The VW also owns that distance in addition to the 24 hours:

Oh well ...

I find solace in the fact that it's not a production car.

Hello from Switzerland,
Let's see the facts! The VW Nardo was purpose built, a prototype, in some way a test mule! If the Germans would not have been successful they would
have said that it was just a test drive. After their success they hammered
down the ZR-1 as a loser in their car magazines.
But, if the Germans had to take a nearly stock BMW, Mercedes,
Porsche or Audi they would have failed!
(Sorry, but I have to mention it:I do not like German cars!!)
This is the reason why I am still very proud to own a ZR-1, because
a ZR-1 was able to do something, that no German or any European
nearly stock car was able to do!!!!!

Hammered down the ZR-1 did they? That's worse than Reeves Callaway calling the ZR-1 an overweight pig.

and the rest is

"Hammered down the ZR-1 did they?"

Yes they did, because not many people here in Europe, people who think that only
the Europeans are able to build fast sports cars, liked the idea that a Corvette
realised these world records!
