Default 1991 FX3 Rear Spring (Part# 22112253)

I finally brought my new to me Z to Kevin at Corvette Connection in San Jose to get it checked out. Good news is that he said the car is in overall good shape. The bad news is that the rear spring is delaminating, to the point that he suggested I should be looking for a replacement right away. Do folks have suggestions on the best replacement for this part? Many thanks.

My car has an aftermarket rear spring and I think it is the VB&P unit. not sure what spring rate- I think it is the standard one and it works fine. Way easier to install than the front, just need to drop the exhaust down a bit.

Okie, you are about 45minutes north of me. PM me if you want, I do all my own work and have a home shop with lift.

Ecklers has a good assortment of stock replacement springs, spendy but seemingly good quality. VB&P has been good for me for non-stock stuff but know your needs, don't just ask them for a set w/shocks, well at least unless you're talking with a tech type.

Rear springs on these is an easy easy job. Remove the spare and you've got all the room you need without so much as lifting the car. I can't recall but might have had to drop the rear sway bar, also an easy job.

Congrats on the otherwise good news!

Mike, Jeff. Thanks for your help. I found a used spring from Dino's Corvette Salvage so will try that and see how it goes. It's really good to know there are after market options though. Is this a part that I should expect to replace every 20k miles or did the PO hit a few bumps too many?

Thanks for the offer tpr60. I'll definitely keep that in mind. I'm a novice when it comes to working on cars, so I've been starting with smaller fixup items.
