Default Re: Tire question (BFG KDW)

Maybe if you're familiar with D3s, this (some first-hand) might help with the KDWs (I had).

A 2008 ish? Car And Driver skid pad test l saw put the KDWs @ the top of all the tires tested; pulling over .95+G. Second to them in that test was the Goodyear -D3's pulling (IIRC) .93(ish) on the dry pad.

However, the KDWs really sucked in the wet skid pad portion; pulling only .5x G's, down from the high .90s on dry. But, more important, they were not "well behaved" when they lost traction in the wet (primarily): they broke traction suddenly as opposed to transitioning into a controlled skid!

And, from personal experience, should I go for a bit of winter driving, they would get hard and "greasy" on dry pavement, and down right scary slick on a patch of ice or packed snow. And too, in that regard, the D3's weren't much better when they got cold. I got the sense one really had to watch his P's n Q's (read: NO spirited driving below 30ºF) on either.
