Re: New Member Checking in - ATX

Hey there, I had my Z at Radwood. I think there were 3 including the show winning Callaway. Mine was the red/black one. I live on the other side of town in Round Rock. Anyhow, welcome!

Re: Lean at high rpm

Yes. I installed these same pumps recently. Pretty straightforward. Replace those plastic hose clamps too! You'll need both 5/16 and 3/8 inch.

Re: 1990 VIN 1G1YZ23JxL5801617 - Who Has It?

I think it's great that you posted here. The owner might join the forums later, and if he or she searches the archives for the VIN this thread will turn up. So hang on to it, or if you sell it update...

Re: Coolant temperature sensor for guage (not ecm)

Also consider replacing your radiator cap .. had to do that to get my cooling under control (in addition to a new t-stat and chip).

Re: Oh no! No start

I'm very eager for Jerry to chime in and let us know why his Remy rebuilt starter is worth 2.5x the one sold by Rock Auto. In the meantime, as long as I own the car, I will report the nanosecond the...

Re: Oh no! No start

$186 vs. $75 .. (after core charge refund) it was hard to justify. Same remanufactured part, with warranty from Remy. Happy to learn from evidence to the contrary though!

Re: Starter motor failure

If you read every word I guess you read my recent saga. Hopefully you've also been stranded within walking distance of pubs ..

Anyhow, the best info I found was from this article:...

Re: Oh no! No start

I replaced the starter with a Remy rebuild - exact replacement. Working great now in conjunction with the relay mod.

I ended up buying the starter from Rock Auto; I did want to buy from Jerry's...

Re: Oh no! No start

I finally got it started again .. just waiting longer. When it finally turned over, there was a slight delay before it started cranking.

I was considering doing a core swap with a rebuild from...

Re: Oh no! No start

I did try to jump it with a piece of 12 gauge wire, though I did so at the relay terminal with a short wire, not from the battery directly, which is functionally equivalent I think. I made a few...

Re: Oh no! No start

So I added the relay to the circuit, which worked .. briefly. After a relatively short drive (but up to operating temp) it's not starting again. So now I'm thinking the starter solenoid itself is the...

Re: WTB scrap cam cover (for science!)

Since I didn't get any bites originally, I just went ahead and painted mine. It turned out great, except I added a clear coat (DiamondFinish, aerosol) that promptly yellowed at operating temperature...

Re: Oh no! No start

It was in the mid-60's. I had been driving quite a bit so the car was hot.

Oh no! No start

I'm sitting here in a parking lot, with the dreaded no start condition. Been starting and stopping a few times this evening without trouble. Now, nothing. *Sigh*
