Re: Alignment

Whatever you do with your alignment, don't just go to a chain and get the factory specs. Get to a shop that will work to your specs and try the VB&P spec whose description best matches your need.

Re: Suspension Upgrade

My experience on springs/shocks - Our first steps on ours (street and autocross) (after alignment) was to reduce rear bar to get some of the oversteer tamed. That and the quick rack, but we found we...

Re: Suspension refresh

Yessir. Down by the steering rack. It's probably housed in a finicky plastic shroud if memory serves.

Cheers,

Re: Suspension refresh

For vague steering, if suspension components pass the shake test then check your rag joint. I found mine to be loose at one point, then I replaced it with the hockey puck style (from a z51 car) -...

Re: EME's "Dragon Heart" 378 Ultra light ZR1 build!!!!

Good luck on the major diet! I'm going to hope you can weigh stuff and post as it comes out (even though I haven't managed to do that) - great references for the rest of us!

I'll chime in with a...

Re: Steering rack

Inner tie rods can usually be changed in-the-car no problem with the correct tool, which is admittedly not in many home tool boxes. You need a guy with the 6' high and 10' long Snap-On chest to find...

Re: Sticking Brakes

An infrared pyrometer or even a careful wave of the hand near each wheel might narrow your search 75%.

I agree about the booster comments but that doesn't cover the "won't roll back until cooled"...

Re: Michelin PS2 335/35/17 back in production

Hey! Glad I can get back here sometimes.

Been busy racing my friends' sawzalled Mustang while I get the Z back together. If I could only figure out how to keep these Penskes compressed without...

Re: Michelin PS2 335/35/17 back in production

I seem to recall the Toyo R1R was better shaved, it is still favored in some sizes where the others aren't available. It's now been long enough since I used street rubber that I forget LOL!

Best,...

Re: Help! 1st Time Removing Plenum....now rough idle

Hi Max,

You may get more response if you bring up an old post with a similar problem to what ever you are facing, or a new post on that issue.

I don't know the code #s but have had ABS faults...

Re: Michelin PS2 335/35/17 back in production

Shaving tread to 1/2 depth has been common practice for some tires in the more serious autocross realm for decades. Reduces tread squirm and resulting heat buildup. Also cures the "first 200 miles"...

Re: 12" wheel up front?

I run 11's in front, either clone A-molds or CCWs, with 315s on a somewhat lowered car. I get slight rubs on the wheel well and (big) sway bar at full lock but that's running Hoosier DOTs which are...

Re: Tire size question

My 335/17's are on 12" CCWs and I do get slight slight rubs that point to needing maybe 0.031" more than my current spacers (I think they're 0.625?).

On the 9.5" fronts I have run 295's with no...

Re: Stock front brake rotors

Corvette Central has L and R 13" rotors at $80 ea. I thought I recalled them having NOS ones pretty cheap, I am not sure these are those.

Re: Coil-overs or Leaf Springs–That be the Question.

Does a full tank of gas behave differently than near-empty?

Bounciness in my experience indicates a bit of a mismatch between spring and shock. The shock is not fully able to control the spring. ...

Re: Coil-overs or Leaf Springs–That be the Question.

Wow Russ, great find. I was thinking of installing only one/side since they do appear heavier than the stock parts, and they ain't cheap - but are cheaper than the Guldstrand parts I was choking on...

Re: Coil-overs or Leaf Springs–That be the Question.

First, thanks for the writeup Hib. I am with you 100%, even though my race class restricts me to "stock suspension type and factory mounting locations". I have been well impressed with how light...

Re: What are the widest tires street legal that can fit a ZR-1 (with aftermarket whee

I've run a variety of sizes and degrees of stagger on 2 different C4s and have found the ABS to be very accommodating.

Actually, I thought I was just never triggering it.

Then one day I had a...

Re: Track Day Brake Pads

For best results the ticket is to swap pads and rotors as sets. Pads transfer material to the rotor surface (search bedding) and this is the friction mechanism.

Re: Prothane bushing brackets

FWIW I've gone through a few aftermarket front bars and simply re-used the factory bracket.

I found I had to go smaller in the rear and larger in the front.

PS when installing make sure the bar...

I waited too long gagging on the price (ok, saving for them) for the Guldstrand adjustable sway bar end links. Finally got ready, went to buy, POOF site and he are gone.

I have a bit of a preload...
