Steve it will look real good I'm sure.
Gotta be something in that metal that is reacting to the paint. A good primer sealer would probably cure that. Are you doing the injector housings too?

Steve, I agree that it was a left over residue. I've seen it many times. When I paint I use Prepsol just before primer which is basically a alcohol mix. Then do what Dyno says ... very light tack...
