Re: Infinity Lube

The info in the advertisement sheet says "900 degree flash point." At the bottom in the fine print it says "believed to be accurate at time of issue."

MSDS says 270 degree flash point.

False...

Re: LT5-Powered 1958 Corvette Restomod

Aside from the horrendous headlights, they got rid of two of the '58s most defining features, the tail lights and the sail exit exhaust. I understand the want for restomodding (fuel injection, newer...

Re: Road&Track June 1990 - Mid-Engine ZR-1

I believe they started on the Indy (Later called the CERVIII) in 1986.

I personally think the Indy/CERVIII was a better looking car than this Bertone concept.

I've read that one of the...

Re: Corvette to become it's own "brand"

The Porsche Panamera and pretty much anything from Lamborghini at this point are just rebodied AUDI's.

Re: Corvette to become it's own "brand"

Aside from the original subject of the article, Sean Tucker needs to rethink his job as an author. Zora did not draw up, design, or create in any way- the original Corvette. This extreme flaw in the...

Re: 92 Tire Tube - How Much Weight Can It Hold ?

It can carry more than 30lbs... keep in mind it was indended to carry a front tire and wheel (Or just any regular tire and wheel on a non-ZR-1 C4.) This is why the "tracks" in the sides of the spare...

Re: Which coil pack do you have?

I have nothing against running the factory stuff, however you're the first person I've seen who said they had problems with magnecor wires. They do come with a lifetime defect warranty. I've had a...

Re: Which coil pack do you have?

My '92 had what appeared to be an original set when I replaced my injectors in '17. They all had cracked housings. I put MSD's in and so far haven't had any problems. After seeing this thread, I...

Re: EPROMS Deteriorate?

Yeah this sounds like BS marketing. I know it's not a ZR-1, but I've got an '87 Mazda RX-7 ECU with over 230k miles on it that still works like it was new.

Re: LT6 dyno runs

I doubt they'd waste the paper. If they do archive any data from a dyno test, it would likely be stored on a database.

Re: LT6 dyno runs

Seems highly doubtful.

These initial dyno runs are more for an internal final inspection and initial run-in, not for power output 'records.' They already know what the engine is supposed to make;...

Re: Corvette Fan Fiction, Volume 1: The 1996 Corvette ZR-1

That and the fact the C4 was on its way out well before '96.

That and the C5 was a no-go for DOHC because the hood is too low. I guess dry sump wasn't in the cards yet.

Re: Corvette Fan Fiction, Volume 1: The 1996 Corvette ZR-1

Same here; nonetheless it's still widely accepted as one. It was a homologation car IIRC. Pretty unrealistic car to be considered a production vehicle IMO. Seems like quite a reach.

Maybe it's...

Re: RIP 1994-0236 & 1993-0290

I hope a couple people buy those and do a restore. Sad to see them in that condition.

Re: Corvette Fan Fiction, Volume 1: The 1996 Corvette ZR-1

I believe by '95 the fastest production car was the McLaren F1.

Edit: 231mph at the Nardo ring in 1993.

Re: Chattering going into 1st/Reverse

The heat checking on the flywheel and pressure plate in your photos looks like it's only on one side. I bet if you put a dial test indicator on it you'd see a fair bit of runout. Either the flywheel...

Re: Throttle body uh-oh moment...

The screws had red loctite on them when I first removed them. I can't recall having ever disassembled an automotive throttle body that didn't have some sort of retention compound on the throttle...

Re: falling on its face while decellerating when i lay the throttle on again approx 3

I'm still having a very similar issue that I haven't been able to figure out either. My car has the Haibeck 500hp package. Still has secondaries but he set it to default in full power mode. (I never...

Re: Intermittent growling and harsh vibrations in neutral

Possibly a bad pilot bushing/bearing or throw-out bearing.

Re: Throttle body uh-oh moment...

Don't get the wrong idea; it was pretty tedious and time consuming. It ate up what little free time I had this past weekend. It wasn't necessarily difficult unless you're impatient (which I've been...

Re: Throttle body uh-oh moment...

Upon further inspection of the throttle body, the wear on the pin wasn't the issue. I elected to leave the pin alone and instead concentrate on the throttle bores and butterfly plates where the...

I keep my remote in the console as well, clipped to one of the cassette dividers.

Anybody seen the new screw-drive openers? They're pretty nice.

I finally got a chance to disassemble, clean, and evaluate the throttle body. This is what I've found. It appears there is more than one issue. The pin on the end of the primary throttle shaft has...

Throttle body uh-oh moment...

On Saturday my lady and I went out for a long day of driving on a charity cruise for a friend of hers who passed. I got a solid 5 hours of windshield time in. The drive was a blast but I experienced...
