Re: Aftermarket Head Unit Question

Same here. The blue (with white stripe?) amp wire on my metra harness wire is going to the dark green wire.

Oh, sorry! Yes, that is a big chonky black shielded coax type wire. The car side of...

Re: Aftermarket Head Unit Question

A couple lessons from recently installing a similar Pioneer NEX head unit in my '94. I'm going on the assumption a 90 and 94's radio wiring is similar, but the below is based on my '94.

The VSS...

Post More BMCB BIN spelunking. A few unknown addresses with changes.

Doing a binary comparison on BMCB and the BMCB-based chip in my car at the moment, there's a few differences unaccounted for in the XDF I'm using.

Values below are in hex.

Address / Stock BMCB...

Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

Given the above it feels as if "Max Vac kPa to Close" maybe should be something like "Max secondary Vac kPa while port closed" as it appears to be testing the existence of any vacuum while the...

Thumbs up Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

Todd, nice work. I didn't look at the flow chart before, but that 3.4kPa does come into play for system diagnosis.

Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

I appreciate it, Todd. You're correct I love to learn the ins and outs. With this community being limited in size I worry about the day folks start to disappear and want to suck up as much brain food...

Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

Oh I absolutely am, I love details to a fault! :icon_stud In addition to fixing things I love the learning opportunity of tearing things down to their most raw components.

Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

What are the chances the value names themselves are slightly misleading? I don't have a commented/disassembled file to read. I'm working on creating one in spare time, which isn't much lately. :D....

Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

Thanks, Todd, I also see 0x55H (min vac to open), then 0x26H (min vac to close) of BMCB.

With the conversion you gave...

Min Vac to Open
85 = E * 2.70045 + 28.7640

Works out to E = 20.82...

Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

I opened a base BMCB.bin and the values with the same XDF are the following.

24.44 max vac KpA to close: This seems to roughly align with the FSM saying if the vacuum to actuators drops <21 kPa...

Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

Here we go.

<21 kPa to the actuators in FULL mode, DTC 61 set.
Any vacuum at air inlet valve actuators in NORMAL mode, DTC 61 set.

Interestingly even though I had a 61 stored, the...

Thanks Todd, yes, already confirmed these two tables are all 0s.

Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

As far as I can tell, yes, the full power light is on any time the car is on and she dyno'd 445rwhp a couple weeks ago so not puttering around like an L98.

There's no value in my XDF I see to...

Thumbs up Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

XfireZ51, I appreciate you sending those over. It looks like mine are currently set to 17.43 and 24.44 as min/max.

Making sure I understand the concept here.

As-is, the minimum kPa to ever open...

Thumbs up Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

Thanks, XfireZ51, my XDF file for F0 doesn't seem to have the definitions for those specific PORT values. Would you be willing to send me the XDF you're using?

I notice tpepmeie also mentioned...

If only we lived in a society where other methods of communication existed, like... telephones, WhatsApp, etc. :D

Watched the new episode yesterday, great job cleaning up the wheel wells.

The depth, or lack of it, for that unit is impressive and yeah it may mean no need to cut the part in the back. May have to buy one to test and find out.

Re: Code 61 with secondary system removed?

Not by Marc, no. I suspect this was just a simple miss by the last person to tune it as they're definitely familiar with secondary deletes. The secondary port open/closed table is zero'd out, but...
