Re: AC Clutch Replacement 1991

I have a clutch kit in the parts bin for a future replacement. It is GPD brand part number 4321248. I believe the description for this one was that is fits the 1990 ZR-1, but as far as I know, there...

Re: What thread is the fuel rail where the Schrader valve connects?

Nitrous Outlet has a schrader adapter block available which would allow you to use the existing shader to thread onto. From there, you can install a new schrader valve, as well as a sensor for fuel...

Re: Swapping in a quicker ratio rack: who has done it?

I wanted to bump this just to see if any new or fresh eyes might be able to provide input on a particular brand of longer tie rod ends or first hand experience with a quicker rack from an early model...

Re: Stalling at quick stops

The MAP sensor line or perhaps the sensor itself? It is happening when you get on the brakes, which are assisted by vacuum and to me it sounds like a hiccup in the engine management when vacuum...

Re: Best sounding cams

I have been thinking about this lately as well. Although in most cases, I believe heads are ported along with the cams. I have everything opened up, but the heads. The idea of the changed idle with...

Re: Can?t install spare tire carrier. What?s this in the way?

All that money for a bi mode exhaust only to pin it open. Must be an underwhelming product compared to factory NPP exhausts. I personally enjoy the dual personality you get from those thoes types of...

Re: 1994 Power steering leak. Anything unique to know?

The parts for the entire system should be readily available. If you ever get to a point in which you need to R&R the pump due to potential leak, I would recommend Turn One for a rebuild. There may a...

Re: Engine noise- stuck lifter?

Just armchair quarterbacking the issue, but the rev to 3K rpm seemingly resolving the issue, to me, indicates an oil pressure or quality issue. The result is a ticking lifter or lifters. Does the...

Re: Electrical question: is this supposed to be here

Sounds like one of the lifters is not happy. How old is the oil? Is the level within the hash marks on the dipstick? I have an old beater four cylinder that makes the exact same lifter chatter noises...

Swapping in a quicker ratio rack: who has done it?

Hey guys, I was curious who has done a quick steer conversion on these cars and how they like it. I have a fresh rack with 0 miles on it from Turn One that was rebuilt for an 85. While it was with...

Re: Headers

That?s a really good price on those. Years ago when I bought them they were 450. Then not long ago I only saw them over 600. Did the OBX business go belly up and they are liquidating?

Long read but some decent info

Alright, Team I got this finally resolved and she is back on the road. The fan shroud does rest against the end tanks of the DeWitts radiator. The spacers worked as intended when the upper shroud was...

Re: Heater hose return fitting replacement

Well, team I have resolved the heater hose fitting issue. A 1/2-14 NPT tap finished off the material left stuck on the threads. So that problem is out of the way. One more problem has cropped up now...

Re: Heater hose return fitting replacement

Thanks, Craig. Some patience and the use of a large EZ out, along with a 7/8 reamer bit has yielded some results. But not optimal, I do not advocate the method I used. I can now get about three full...

Re: Heater hose return fitting replacement

Well not great news on removing what was left of the heater hose fitting. It has pretty much fused with the threads of the housing itself. At this point, I am considering drilling out the material...

Re: Heater hose return fitting replacement

Hi, Craig! Oh yes, I already have the new and improved part on standby. Sure enough in Jerry?s description he mentions the factory nipple pot metal makeup and I just found that out. This stuff looks...

Re: Heater hose return fitting replacement

Alrighty, I am open for to some suggestions? Appropriately sized EZ out? This happened while trying to remove the plastic retainer from the heater hose. What is left of the aluminum gave up before...

Re: Heater hose return fitting replacement

Good to know and I also have a 200 amp alternator fitted, so the electrical demands should be covered. Do you recall the connector route you went with the spals? Figured I would ask before I start...

Re: Heater hose return fitting replacement

Well the assembly looks fairly sturdy so it should be able to remain in place. Does anyone recall how many amps the fan relays are rated for? I picked up some spal fans to replace the factory fans...

Heater hose return fitting replacement

Hello all,

For those who have replaced the heater hose return fitting on the remote thermostat housing, did you leave the housing assembly bolted in place during replacement?

You should be fine. I went from 3.45 to 3.90. Yukon brand pinion and gear and there was no issue.

Re: Air Conditioning Compressor Clutch availability

I see those on RockAuto, but are they for DOHC? I would not think Chevy would allow something like a different AC pulley diameter for an LT5. I have an old screenshot of that same clutch and the old...

Re: Air Conditioning Compressor Clutch availability

Been barking up this tree for a bit. If I may add to the confusion, from the same site there is a listing in the link below for a clutch that ?fits? 1990 ZR-1s only. To my knowledge, there was no...

Re: Fuel leak somewhere

Good catch, Jerry. That?s right, the canister is also under the driver side headlight, just like the old L98 cars. No plenum dive needed for the 90 ZR guys.
