Catalytic Converters for CA '91 ZR-1

Can't seem to find these. They are part of the exhaust manifold. Any suggestions?

Car is failing for NOx emissions in CA. Tried all the tricks - been getting it through for the last 4 plus years with the Marc Haibeck suggestions but not this year. The only thing left to do is the converters.

Are they different on CA cars? I took mine off at around 30K miles and have them boxed.

I expect they all were the same. Can you send a pic? How much are you asking? You can pm me.

Thanks,
Don

Thanks for the pic. Mine have 87k on them but were probably damaged when I took her out of 10 year storage.... Still waiting on another response. Will be in touch.

Thanks,
Don

What were the readings on the smog? I'm in Ca,mine failed twice because of an over paranoid smog tech. I've got a few suggestions, send me a PM if you like, there are options if you absolutely can't find the cat.

Thanks for replying. All numbers were "elevated" but within limits except the nitrous oxide. It was about 100 over in multiple tests. The car had been driven and everything had been worked on or replaced except the cat's. I got some used cat's but the mechanic with the shop next to the smog shop saw the ZR-1 and was really excited about getting to work on it. He did his "magic" - nothing I hadn't done or checked out already as far as I can tell - and got it to pass - just - without putting on the cat's. He thought putting on the cat's was a BIG job.

I'm holding on to the cat's for the next smog :)

Re: Catalytic Converters for CA '91 ZR-1

The State has some help when it comes to failed smog tests and defective cats that are no longer available. I've seen where one owner got a deferral from the State where he no longer had to test the car. And something to keep in mind installing used cats on a car is illegal, that right there helps owners as far as proving the cars are no longer available. The State can't legally out law a car that was built to Federal emissions standards at the time of manufacture. The State of California has lowered the max Nox levers over the years. When I bought my car back in 2007 the max Nox level was 702,the State has lowered the max Nox level to 502.
