I was watching one of these car shows, I think it was an episode of Legendary Motorcars. And the owner told a story of a guy who had a 1970 Boss 429, and kept the miles low for one day trading it in for something. When the 1984 Corvette came out, he traded his Boss 429 in on a new 1984 Corvette. Thinking this new Generation Corvette would be worth a mint, if put away with hardly any miles.......One of the worst trades he said he ever saw, and the was case in point as to why cars are bad investments. Hind sight being what it is, one just never knows how collectible cars market goes.

Rare Jap motorcycles a good bet though I have a rg500 Walter wolf and a 1990 Owo1 they increase in value every year.

Ooh that hurts.......Seeing that the 84 corvette was going to be mass produced,I mean, how could you not,why would someone do that ?

Bad move....I was at the Hershey car festival in September....A guy was selling a 70 429.....His asking price was 250,000 dollars.....Beautiful car....Don't know if he was original owner but he did have the original sticker.5,100 dollars back in 70..

I had the 70 Boss 302 and traded it for a Chevell station wagon to carry a playpen and baby stuff. [emoji17]

I had an all original 1968 Dodge Charger RT British Racing Green with Green interior (think the movie Bullet with Steve McQueen, the "Bad Guy's Car" in the big chase scene)with the 375hp 440 and pistol grip 4 speed, power windows and door locks, air conditioning, and a special order only rear window defroster.
I sold it back in the late '90s for a good price.
How was I to know that it would be worth today, I would have put it in a bubble and saved it.
*could have, should have, would have*sigh.

some time it just takes luck.
my uncle bought a new 1967 Vette when I was 16.
I got it from him in 1980 and still have it, now it is a Benchmark from BG.


also have a 1971 LS-6 I got in 1992.


the 67 just keeps going up a little at a time.
the 71 has had big swings over the years up and down.


as age gets to me (now 67) and the two of them just sit in storage, I assume one day they will get sold.

All us old car guys have these stories.
In 1970 I had a Split-window, 327/340. Every day I drove it to work I passed the Ford dealer who had a new black Boss 429, and a blue Boss 302 out front. I never tried to deal because I was a Corvette guy.
But when my second child was born, we couldn’t fit two little ones into the back. So I traded the corvette in for a few bucks and a VW 1600S squareback. The worst deal of my life.
The stories are endless, that dealer had a 50 mile Super Stock Hemi coronet with aluminum body parts and every go-fast option on his showroom floor, for less than $3,500. And the Chevy dealer across the street from my house had a plain, yellow 67’ Nickey L72 427 Camaro that sold for $2,500. What an era.
In the long run, the only losers are the waxers who never really used the cars, and the guys who have them today but never take them out after midnight to wring the hell out of them.
The same goes for our cars. JMHO
