I'll probably start on I95 since I am only about 10 minutes from it.
I can cut over in Balt or DC to I81 or just continue down I95.

Doug, Doug?
Even though I'm retired, I can't spend every minute
lurking here on the Forum... apologies for being a few minutes late...:)
Removed my leaking clutch slave cylinder this morning, waiting
for new one to show up from Jerry. Pain in the butt to get out, but with a little
patience it's not so bad... Installation should be easier?
Better to do it now than to crap out during the trip!
New battery too, the old one was 6 years old, same thought as above.

Our tentative plan is to leave CT with Chris and Bill Hedberg on Saturday
via Rt 84 - 81 stay overnite somewhere near where Rts 81 and
70 intersect, meet up with Jeff and hopefully with some
WAZOOers on Sunday AM for the ride to Blowing Rock NC arriving
around supper time? Blowing Rock isn't in a "dry county" is it?
Actual times and places TBD.
All reservations made except for 1st nite out.

Re: Mountain Run 2

Consider the Best Western, Lee Jackson Inn, at Winchester, VA. It has a Perkins Restaurant for breakfast. If you choose this, take I-81 South to exit 313B. Once on the exit ramp, get into the left most lane (even though you'll be turning right). As you complete your right turn, there will be a traffic light at which you will turn a partial left to enter the hotel and restaurant.

Access back onto I-81 South is quick and easy. I plan to have breakfast there, but have not yet set a time.

And so it goes...

Jim

Re: Mountain Run 2

OK ... a quick "head's up" to everyone making Mountain Run 2
  • Everyone probably has a cell phone ... bring it, but realize that it won't work in some of the locations that we will be in.
  • If you have a GPS, bring that too, but, believe it or not, your GPS may get "lost" on some of the roads (all the roads are paved).
  • If you have a radar detector it will be handy to have along ... I personally don't leave home without my Valentine
  • If you have (or plan to get) an FRC radio (Walkie-Talkie), bring that, too. Walkie-Talkies are our best method of communication in the mountains. If you don't have one, let us know since some of us probably have a loaner or two. If you're planning to get one I recommend Motorola ... they've always worked best for me.

PM the following to me:
  • your email address
  • your cell phone number
I'll put an info packet together and email everyone with the final details of the Mtn Run about a week prior. I'm still fine-tuning some of the routes, etc. and watching for any road closures ... tried running part of the Blue Ridge earlier this month but the roads were closed due to weather. Hopefully we won't have any of that to deal with.

George
