Hi Rocky

Are you mechanically inclined? Can you work on cars?
With the help and guidance of those on this site, you
can service your ZR-1. Also, I recommend the (2) volume
Service Manual for your year car.

That being said, if you have the means and need, the real
pros tend to be out of state: Marc Haibeck (Chicago)
Pete Polatsidis (Also Chicago) Aaron Scott (South Georgia)
and some others.

DO NOT TRUST THE DEALER for anything beyond simple
C4 stuff.

I know: I live in Northridge,CA and have had my Z since
2000. In my younger years I did everything myself.
This registry is fantastic. When I had a more major
problem I punted and shipped my car east. No regrets.
I got my car, and the wife got an addition to the house.
No questions asked.

Appreciate the info, I am somewhat mechanical but not really up for doing major stuff myself at this point (67 yrs). Really a bummer to not have a good ZR1 shop on the west coast. Really expensive to ship the car across the country and back. Diagnostic of an intermittent miss is driving me crazy. May be a lifter issue and that is work I am not going to try.

I owned a '95 ZR1 for 20 years. I live in Goleta but used to live in West Covina. I did most of my own service work but would take my car to a Corvette specialty shop sometimes. Sadly, that particular shop is long gone. At this point in time I'm not sure where to refer you but Corvette Mike in Anaheim might be a good place to start.

There are very few ZR1-specific service shops" these days. Marc Haibeck is one of the best, but...he's in Chicago.

Basic service of the LT5...oil changes, spark plug changes and so forth are pretty straight forward.

The only major system that's specific to the car is the LT5. Generally, the rest of the ZR1 is just a "C4" from a mechanical standpoint so just about any service facility that works on older Corvettes can probably help.
