"How to drive your ZR-1"

"The LT5 normally passes about twice as much oil through the exhaust as most engines.
Typical oil consumption is one quart per 750 to 1000 miles if the engine is run, as it
should, to 7000 rpm a lot."

Just gotta love the words from Marc Haibeck on how to drive the ZR-1.

I wonder if showing this can get you out of speeding tickets..? :fahne:

We just got ours and drive it daily weather permitting. I try to stay true to the words of MH and go beyond 6000 rpm at least once every day. With the 4:10s we kinda have to I feel, it's like it's ready to explode forward at any moment.

Dave McLellan once said that every (ZR-1) driver should push 7000 rpm on a regular basis - and the LT5 will appreciate it!:dancing

My drivers Ed teacher always said "when merging onto a freeway don't be afraid to hold the accelerator to he floor. It wont do anything its not deigned to."
Big difference between a 4 banger Mazda and this......

Great little video Paul. Love the sound of the LT5 at full song. I remember more than once doing something like this but generally on the left side of the truck! Fun in the '93. Especially fun in the 510 HP '95. And the Z06 now makes it even more fun! --Bob

Re: "How to drive your ZR-1"

Just to be clear, that was a video from 5abiVT, a member here and a fellow Canuck about 1.5 hours North-East of me. I just didn't want appear to be stealing his thunder, but the video fit this thread.
I wanted to post the GM video of the GM exec(I think) who is shown powershifting a Zed through the first 4 gears, but I couldn't quickly find it. I think it was a promotional Chevrolet/GM video from 1989/90? Top was out, hair was blowing in the wind, and he just manhandles the shifter. It's shot from the passenger seat and his clutch leg, right hand on the shifter and resultant seat movement is all in frame. It's a great video.

The video I was looking for was the one by John Heinricy

The video has been removed.
