Front Crank Seal

It appears that the front crank seal is leaking on my 1990 ZR1. I expect this will get expensive if I can even find someone to do it. Not sure I want the neighborhood mechanic doing either.

I am in Huntsville, AL. Any recommendations on where I should take this for repair?

Not an easy fix.
Engine will have too be raised significantly or removed completely to remove the crank dampener and old seal. Front seals seldom leak. Recommend double checking to confirm leak source before diving in to replace the front seal.

Agree with Phil. Most of the time what is thought to be a front seal leak turns out to be loose oil pan bolts. Definitely check those first. Happened to me once. I thought it was the front seal but Marc just tightened the pan bolts near the front and solved the problem. Might have to raise the engine a bit for them too, but a much easier fix if that is it. --Bob

I had the bolt holding the crank pulley come loose and sprayed oil everywhere. I pulled the bolt, sealed the threads with blue locktite and retorqued the bolt.
