Best Sounding Exhaust for the ZR-1

Here is your chance to vote/comment on what you think is the best sounding exhaust.

I have the Corsa exhuast with vortech intake and am in love with the sound completely! Also the HP gains are nice too! Only drawback is its pricy.

B&B with the resinator.
Your opinion may vary.

I love my Flowmasters. They look close to stock, hardly resonate, sound great at WOT, and cost less than 500.00 brand new.

Another vote for flowmasters...

Fort94z 01-17-2005 07:10 PM

I got to go with B&B with headers. Also have the x-pipe. Works well for me !:

There are going to be quite a few different opinions on the question of what YOU think is the best sounding exhaust system. Everyone's opinion will be a bit different. Just like one of the above systems will sound totally different from one engine combination to another.

Mikez40 01-17-2005 11:13 PM

Not only is the B&B the best sounding, but also the best looking...of course that is MHO!

rkreigh 01-19-2005 06:31 PM

got a great deal on my B&B with x pipe. car picked up great power
and has a super agressive exh note.

the stroker needs this exh.

check out tbryne for the deal on this.

I was very happy with the service and price.

my 95 had a flowmaster which really sounded nice and was a bit
more mellow than the B&B but it's not SS

both sound great IMHO, the B&B is super rowdy.

Jim Jones 04-20-2005 11:59 AM

Mine had Corsas on it when I bought it, so having nothing to compare it with, I voted Corsa!!

Dominicorvette 04-21-2005 07:40 AM

Couldn't there be put sound clips on here so we know what each system sounds like? I think that would be really nice.

I agree.

Even if someone only had one of their own, post it and we I'll put them all into the OP.

Marc Haibeck did some research on the stock 94-95 system :

What is OP? And maybe it'd be nice to put some zr-1 videos on here too? I know I would love that.

For Me- B&B with X pipe, breathing through Stainless Works headers.
Don

B&B is winning with 53%, but I wonder how much the resonance which I hear is bad with it takes away from the overall experience?

WB9MCW 05-01-2005 11:37 PM

fu2 how do u read the back psi report..it is blurry and will not control+ up in size??? :(

I saved it in Microsoft Photo Editor and enlarged and sharpened it.

The article basicly states that the best target for modification on the 93-95 exhaust system is the muffler. And that the cat's are a minor contributor to the back pressure , the resonator is the least restrictive.

thnx 4 the synopsis fu2!!! :handshak:

Have any of you heard the power effects system??
It sounds sooooooo sweet, and crap is it mean! If you dont like resonance and cockpit noise than DO NOT get these... I for one love it, Hell my bose could have been broken for a year now and I wouldnt know. My music is live and has 8 intruments. I have heard the B&B as well, they are my second favorite, but Power effects takes it for me just brutally sweet big block sound, even at idle for crist sakes... I wonder what their "Side Effects" system sounds like?

bobbyhi 09-07-2005 09:09 PM

I also have the Power Effect exhaust system. Really love the sound at WOT..They can be toned down but who would want to!! Very quiet at highway speeds and in town they are mellow. My opinion only......

cuisinartvette 09-07-2005 09:45 PM

I'd be interested to hear a sound clip of the newer B&B's.

Aurora40 09-08-2005 05:44 PM

I definitely wish more people were more sound-clipy! I love hearing that stuff. Does anyone here own the Callaway exhaust? It's 2.75" in diameter, and I'm hoping it on the lower end of the resonance spectrum, but that's based only on Callaway's reputation and the cost of it. I'd be interested to know if it suffers a resonance issue, or if it's not really that great at flowing, or whatever. It has piqued my interest the most as it seems a quality name, goes on a quality car, and hopefully is a quality product.

Stock Exhaust is the best....It Rocks:worship: :p

cuisinartvette 09-08-2005 09:04 PM

Jeff, now that sounds GOOD! Nice and raspy!

Say what? Mellow?? Well, the zr-1 i heard them on had headers and an x pipe with rt cats... maybe that is why we had to yell at eachother even at a stoplight.

The B&B Bullet system sounds realllly nice on a C5... I would consider them for my Z if they only made a similar sounding system for it! I think the route 66 sounds like sloppy crap...

91Mike 09-11-2005 10:58 AM

Not real happy with the Borlas. Once the Jeals come in (3 weeks), I'll install B&Bs.

I installed a borla system on my 305ci 89 IROC, I could actually feel a negative performance effect during low rpms but felt like it revved faster and breathed much better at high rpms. I just wasnt satified so I tried the flowmaster system and wow,... Much, MUCH better performance throught the band, and better sound in my opinion. So yes I agree, borlas dissapointed me on my application too. :thumbsdo:

WB9MCW 09-12-2005 12:05 AM

b&b

the billy b's sound choice jeffery!!!

cvette 09-16-2005 12:47 AM

Does anyone have a set of Desert Development exhaust laying around they want to get rid of? I've got the pipes but they have Dynomax mufflers on them. I would like to get ahold of a complete set.Charlie

It's Corsa

cuisinartvette 09-16-2005 03:09 AM

Those Corsas? Looked like you had the sqarish tips. Anyway, sounds sweet! How is the interior resonance?

WB9MCW 09-16-2005 09:02 PM

fooled me

shame on da mess...dog gone it ...fooled once again...well they sure sound good so it just goes to prove that b&b doesn't own the market for the bestest sound after all!!! now at thew dyno I have heard the bb's rule there but perhaps I could be wrong... :icon_scra

Trizney 09-18-2005 10:37 PM

Has anyone tried the magnaflow mufflers on their Z? I know most people upgrade the whole system, but a few just change out the mufflers. I have flowmasters on the Z, and the stainless magnaflows on my LT1. I was thinking of swapping them around just to see, but wanted to see if someone had already done this.

There is no interior resonance with the Corsas.

A1990 09-24-2005 06:40 PM

I like the sound and looks of the Corsa, but nothing even comes close to the B&B's!

The new ones are etched with the B&B logo which is awesome.
