Drag Racing at BG

Talked with Dallas the track owner. Good to hear from an ole buddy and glad he is doing well. The new's is a such , we can book Thursday May 15th.

Price is 1500.00 for up to 8 car's running, limited timer's if any and no safety crew etc. We may be able to squeeze in more than 8 with the 1500.00 deal.

Price is 2500.00 for the day with timer's ambulance crew etc.

Don't think that these price's are high. I rented the track for the day with my group in the 90's for the same amount of money.

Claim it now. Or we loose it !

Tell me what you guy's want to do. I'm just the messenger , right Bozz ?

I'd like to drag race if we have enough interest and we don't need roll bars, driveshaft hoops etc.

Re: Drag Racing at BG

Ok. We have a 441 automatic coming to tear the track up!

So far... 4

Who else is in?

Re: Drag Racing at BG

So, that's $188 per person for 8 cars. If we squeeze in 10 it's $150 each. I only wanted to make a couple of passes which makes that pretty high on a per pass basis. I think I'll have to be a spectator.

Re: Drag Racing at BG

As I told David in an email, I am in but not yet certain I can get down Wednesday night. I will try and expect to and should know shortly. But questions: can we have more than 8 cars? What if several unregistered cars show up and want to run and pay a fee? How much time will we have? When would it start, etc.? Inquiring minds....Bob

FU 03-14-2013 01:03 PM

Re: Drag Racing at BG

May be I can answer your questions Bob.
Can we have more than 8 cars? Yes
What if several unregistered cars show up and want to run and pay a fee? More the merrier , let's play !
How much time will we have? Plenty of time , not trying to be a wise guy either.
When would it start, etc.? @ 2-3 pm

We should make a move on reserving the track asap. The diesel boy's all ready want it. They knocked us out last year. Then didn't want us running with them !

FU 03-14-2013 01:25 PM

Re: Drag Racing at BG

One more thing.........spectators ? You want to watch ? WTF ? Get behind the wheel and have fun with the car ! That's what these cars were built for.

If some one dosen't feel they can drive "good". Just remember we all started some time. Start now.

Car's with sticky tires and plenty of horsepower are prone to breakage. Most of us don't have to worry about that.

Life is short , enjoy life to it's fullest while ya can !

Hopefully the club back's me up on this deal (cough-cough) A lot of time is invested in this. Dallas the track owner is a good ole boy , we know each other for a long time and I'd hate to waste his time.
And yes Bob racing would be on the 16th.

David,
BG looks good ,but I will not be able to attend this year. Other events
will be be taking up most of my time. I have a trip to Lodi , new Jersey to
celebrate my Sister (Sister Mary Bridget ) Golden jubilee of consecrated life.
This takes place the first week in Arpil.
I my be able make BG next year. I'll see how its goes.
thanks

In effort to try and get more guy's to participate in this event instead of being spectator's.
Trying to level the playing field out, how about going for 1/4 mile MPH for everyone ? Instead of ET. Just post a good MPH number. Easy on the drive train and it will allow the less experienced get a crack at a run or two and have fun doing it.
Just trying to get some motivation going here guy's.

I've never had mine on any kind of track and it's close to stock (Marc's chip and a new Corsa system). This is getting very tempting however. What type of safety gear is required? Does the cost go down as the number of participants go up?

Re: Drag Racing at BG

Since this is a ZR-1/C4/Grand Sport Registry event at BG, don't any of them want to drag race? Has anyone been in contact with the other groups? Or is this just ZR-1-ers? I am surprised we couldn't get a fairly large group that wants to race. Perhaps to get the track for next year in advance. Curious. --Bob

Re: Drag Racing at BG

I may have to step up and take the bull by the horns here, Please post up if you will be running at Beech Bend on Thursday the 16th for a few hours. This will be informal drag racing. But fun none the less.
Please feel free to invite anyone to drag race with us.

Took the liberty of putting down the names of people that posted here. Let us know if you would like your name eliminated.

I'll refresh this post so we know how many people we have up to it.

PLEASE BE ADVISED :
The club is not backing us at the drag strip. This is beyond my control guy's.
WE are doing this on our own, I have to personally comitt to this event. If we don't get up 15 people we may not have any racing.
In the past I covered the cost for racing. Due to other thing's beyond my control (SANDY) I'm unable to cover this cost upfront. Need help !
As of 3/20/2013 we have :

1- Frank U.
2- Pete
3- Ronstar
4- Bob warp 10
5- Phil
6- msmoore
7- Kevin Costello
8- Fully Vetted
9-
THANK YOU ALL !

KUDOS go's out to Wayne Hale for trying to keep our drag racing alive ! Also too some one that used to be a driving force in the club that would like to remain unanimous due to political tensions.
