You guys are making me even MORE excited about the road trip ... I may have to get a couple of take-out mother's day lunch coupons for my wife & mom and meet you guys in Winchester for the caravan to Blowing Rock

hard to find reliable info but it appears that BR is not "dry" ... that said, I'm not sure about Sunday sales. Guess we'll find out when we get there. On a brighter note, Rabun County, Georgia (where we'll be Monday night) is definitely not dry ... and even if it were, I happen to know where a well stocked refrigerator is located

8AM should be early enough to beat MD crowds.
I'm looking forward to this too, haven't had a real weeks vaca in a few years!

One more week! In preparation ZR1 is going on the lift today for inspection, oil change and whatever she needs to be healthy for the trip!

Oil change done and she passed my inspections. Had a slight vac leak and she was making a very high pitch noise at the plenum. So I decided to pull the plenum, tightened up some vac hoses and found one of the plenum gaskets had a tear in it. All back together and running better than ever! Took her on a 60 mile run just to make sure all is good and it is! Counting the days!

Well, I got the Purple Aerobody ready for the run last weekend. After much deliberation and what the weather looks like I am going to be getting the Ruby ready on Friday.

Thanks ... I assumed (dangerous, I know) that your Ruby was also a Z. btw, I really like your car tags ... seems you're almost "obsessed"

This is my first long trip with my Z. Can anyone suggest what tools to bring along and spare parts,
.
Thanks,

Not sure about spare parts and tools, you can't bring your whole toolbox and spare parts inventory with you. Whatever you bring for spare parts, won't be what craps out... But traveling in a group is always a good thing when in a 20+ year old car. (and we've got that covered!)
An AAA card is not a bad idea either.

FWIW: I carry a scissor jack, tire plug kit (a good "gun" type w/mushroom plugs), a can of Green Slime, tire guage, wire cutters (to pull out the nail or whatever), a small 12v compressor, gloves, flashlite and a breaker bar w/deep socket (for jack and lugs). It all fits in the compartment behind the right seat. Unless I tear a hole in a tire, with this maybe I can keep going. Check the air in your spare too, even though I'd try to avoid using it if at all possible.

See ya Sunday!

What Doug said ... plus

if you have a spare serpentine belt, it's a good idea to keep it in the compartment behind the seat.

I usually carry a small array of sockets, extensions, ratchets, wrenches, torx bits, etc. I picked up a couple of plastic tool boxes from Sears that hold most of what I need and are compact enough to carry easily ... I believe they are compact truck boxes Item # 00965117000P Model # 65117.

The nice thing about this trip is the number of knowledgeable "mechanics" available should anyone need some help.

Thanks for the suggestions. Your right about the knowledgeable mechanics, sad to say i am not one of them.

Last nite you said you couldn't make the trip, this morning you're
coming in your motorhome and trailer?
Where did you get the trailer? Will the LM be on it?

re: reservations
Doug will take care of Sun nite in Blowing Rock
Mon lunch in Marion we should be OK & I don't think they take reservations ... I may make a "head's up" warning call Mon AM prior to our arrival
Mon evening ... generally no reservations but I will give a warning call when we get to Dillard ... we should be able to get seating together & going early will be a plus. more info at Sunday's meeting
Tue lunch ... no reservations but I've already called & will call again so that we will have seating together. It's important that we arrive before the noon rush
Tue evening ... TBA when we get to Alcoa
Wed lunch ... BBQ no reservations ... we can give a warning call

I can feel you pain. Dom has been waiting on his seats that were suppose to be complete by March 15th and I am waiting on a complete interior for the LPE that was suppose to be done by April 1st.
