Much quicker than I thought it would. Thursday night after work got the cam covers on. Friday night got most of the secondary plumbing hooked back up and injector housings accept for breather box hoses. I shop vacuumed out the head ports just in case there might be anything down in there. I'm not taking any chances. I used course ss wool to stuff into the pcv area. But a 50 ml tube of loctite 518 was more than enough to do the job. Just lay a bead and spread evenly with your fingers. I've still got to do some clean up around the breather box in the front of the car.

About two years ago this idiot in the Corvette club made a comment about my engine not being all that clean which really offended me and he knew it by the look on my face. I told him well of course it's not going to be as clean as your 2007. Now he can stick it where the sun don't shine.
This is what it looked like before which wasn't bad for 19 years old.

Did you ask him why his engine compartment looked like a Tupperware party?

Haha! I agree. But the big jerk just had a heart attack while he was washing his 2007 and just got out of the hospital. So I have to be the bigger man in this case and sent him a get well card even though he has a big mouth.
Rick, bet you can't wait to drive it.

Beautiful job on the engine. Nice looking P&P on the IHs (from what we can see of it!)

I've got a chip thats made for top end porting but its programmed for headers and mine doesn't have headers yet so if anything it will be running rich. So what can I expect the first time I start it up? Will the engine chug a lug as the ECM does its calculations or what.

Now that P/C job came out super!
I hope you enjoy every mile!
Yea, too bad about that guy & the heart attack. But really, I wanna see how the "tupperware" holds up after 20 yrs....it's easy to have a few yr old car look good...if colored plastic is to your taste.....

This is where I left off on it last night. I may be firing this bad boy up today. All I've got left to do is cut some gaskets for the plenum and one for the throttle body to the air horn. Then bolt the brake booster back in. Maybe late today.

I put just a tiny bit of silicone grease on the injector orings and they went in and seated perfectly in about 30 seconds.

Very nice!
Thank you for all those under-plenum pics (I saved 'em :-D), I have a folder on my computer full of LT5 pics like that so I can figure out where all the vacuum hoses go that I have laying around. The pics (actually, more like drawings) in the FSM aren't that helpful in that regard.

I've been under the plenum so many times now I could probably hook everything back up blind folded.

Very nice looking powder-coating. Hopefully mine will look like that someday.
One question...
You mentioned stuffing SS-wool into the PCV area. Where exactly do you put it? Is it in the crankcase breather box or inside the IH where the PCV elbow goes in? I'm assuming that the wool helps prevent oil carry-over into the intake manifold, right?
Thanks,

Yes it's right under were the PCV pipes go into the valve covers. There is a wire that keeps it from falling out.

Here it is done for the most part. I still have to bolt the brake booster back up and do an oil change and fill back up my coolant level. Also another note if you use the thick finalic plenum gaskets and you buy the SS top end fastener kit just know that the plenum bolts won't be long enough to thread through.
I love the before and after pics.

I can't wait to see the look on that guys face that made that smart azz comment about how my engine compartment wasn't up to his standards. He can take his LT4 and spray Roundup on it. And you better believe I'm gonna rub it in. Not only does it look better than his it will murder his in a most spectacular fashion. It would murder his in performance even before the powder coating and porting. But now "OMG". MMwwwaahahaha! I love it.

and I thought I loved my LT-5!...you know the mobil 1 doesn't go in the air horn right? It looks awesome! Running yet?Hell no. It looks good but it doesn't freakin run.:sign10: To put all the hard work into porting and powder coating. Get it all put back together just to have no start syndrome. I'm tired of listening to this guy across the street always reving his Saleen Mustang all the time. Man I thought I was going to be able to pull this bad boy out of the garage this evening and show this freak up "NOT". I'm sure I'll get it figured out.

Been following your saga - along with the rest of us. We're pullin fer ya, and know it is just something simple. (Anything would be, relative to where you've come from, right??)
I'm looking forward now to getting mine back together too...AND hoping it fires up OK! I'm a little anxious about it, but I was talking to Marc H about such things a while back, and he admitted to feeling the same way every time he puts one back together -- just before turning the key!
So! You're in good company!

You have to cut the Mustang guy some slack. Every time that car manages to start he's so happy that he just has to rev it up. It is a Ford you know.
I hope a starter fixes it all for you.
