THey will make a Camaro "like" vehicle. 5.3 v8? They shouldn't even bother. Still don't understand why they closed the Van Nuys plant out here. GM blew it out of greed with selling SUV's and trucks. Now with gas prices the way they are they can't give them away. All they have going for them is the Caddy and the vette.
Fwiw, the original concept drawing looked better. THe "smoothed" redo in the link makes the front grille look like a Maverick. BUT, it's Camaro "like"

The same thing I thought when I saw the picture. Not a bad thing though:wink:

It does look like the Mustang some, but it will never make it to production looking like that. I had a 94Z28 at one time. Lots of fun. It would be nice for them to bring some version of it back now that Mustang has the muscle car market.

I think they should loose the C2 hood! Go back & work in the 69 Z28 hood and do something about the front and the side curves and...oh heck just do a re-introduction of the 69 Z28 body on a modern chassis and I bet they sell. I'm sorry I even like the last body style that they axed. The curves are too much for me. I'm from the Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins era, now those were camaros! Reefer white + Rat Motor = camaro.

I have to admit as much as I'm not thrilled with GM's platform and their initial idea, if the car was done right I'd buy one, I've had too many Camaros over the years and still have a soft spot for them.

I like the 69 Camaro remake idea. An exact replica with todays engine and an old turbo 400. 3.73 gears. I`m dreaming but i`d hock the family jewels for one.

I love camaros, always have. I can't wait for the new one!
That said I have serious doubts about how accurate this kids take on what the next camaro will look like, Horton was 19 when he created that. He has an amazing artistic mind, but take a careful look at the starboard side mirror, Its positioning below the window sill makes it impossible for the driver to see 90% of it, engineering is lacking. Keep in mind this is just some kids take how GM should do the fifth gen camaro.
His most recent take on it can be found at this link

Now that looks bad @ss... Nice butt too. Thinking of an SS version sporting a functional hood scoop makes me drool. And then maybe a light weight ZL1 type ultra high perf camaro, maybe forced induction and a sweet independent suspension setup so she isn’t such a straight liner... ahhhh... sweet dreams!

Ahhhhh theeeeerrre she is,.... Look at that freakin stance, thats beautiful. Who the hell wouldnt buy that? Just the look would scare a good 100 hp out of a mustang. ;)
This is a great thread Bryan!

I like that one, it's cool looking. A nice antique ZL1/427 + M22 would go nice with that car! Instant retro-rod...oh I'd like it in refeer white w/black interrior and black stripes, please.

EVen better! I'd sell off one of the toys in a heartbeat to buy one. Saw an '05 GT in the bodyshop the other day, have to admit as far as the retro thing it was done right: Simple, almost sparse but clean and functional:what a ponycar should be, that's what I love about them. If Chevy could pull this one off without making it look like a rental car they will sell a bazillion of them.
