Will they be worth a 67-69 L88 or L89... doubt it. Are they a hoot to drive. Hell yea!

IMHO the author put in a good bit of thought and research......too bad he may be right on with the number of cars still intact! I personally think that is a compliment to the ZR-1.

I'm sure glad I didn't buy mine as an "investment" in anything other than the fun I have when I drive it!:mrgreen:

We all know that the first generation of any muscle car is always going to be worth more than the 2nd and 3rd gen cars anyway. I've read enough articles and talked to enough people to know that the biggest factor in deciding to own a Z is "parts availability" and that scares allot of people away. That does'nt worry me at all. Because even when the GM/NOS parts are all gone there are enough Z owners that are Machinists and electronics technicians that won't let that happen. Sure you may have to pull that part off your car and reverse engineer it to reduplicate it as far as mechanical parts go. Electronic parts are going to be a little more of a bear but still doable.
As far as the collectability of them goes the author's facts are sound and make perfect sense to me. I've been a member of this site and CF for a while now and I can't recall anybody ever saying they bought their Z for and investment. It's fast and unique was the reason. I know there are some members here that not only own a Z but also own some really desireable classic vettes to. Maybe those guys can chime in on their thoughts.:)

The article seems well done, an interesting read. And he's right, the best thing to do with these cars is to drive and enjoy them.

I think he is a little off on the "Wow" factor though. I have been very surprised by the people at work and other places who remember what the ZR-1 was. They may not have all the details right, but they do remember the badge and the impact the car had. I am always surprised by that.
