Another aftermarket clutch and flywheel question

Sorry, I did not want to hijack someone else's thread and searched as much as I could so forgive me it the answer is posted somewhere else.

I am replacing the stock flywheel dual mass flywheel with the Fidanza aluminum. In addition, I have the Fidanza 3.2 clutch kit that include the thinner pressure plate (came with Valeo) and a kevlar sprung disc hub clutch.

The question that I have after I find the correct lenght bolts is the entire set up is about 1/4 inch shorter and wondering how does that affect the clutch pedal height and engagement or does the hydraulic clutch system just compensate for it and no issues.

pressure plate might be one for an L98 but I honestly don't know

Thanks. I heard about these thinner units and if it can't be used I guess I can do like others and use the stock pressure plate with the new clutch disc that I have. I'm sure one of the experts out there will chime in the next few days.:cheers:

You can use the L98 pressure plate but will need the L98 pressure plate screws,stock ZR-1 pressure plate screws are too long.

Thanks for the reply. I was concerned about the clutch pedal and the engagement with the entire set up being lower overall, but I guess the clutch hydraulic system compensates and it does not affect anything. I'm so old school and remember the days of adjusting clutch and pedal play and engagement, etc. Apparently no issue.

####Mine was the same about 1/2" thinner. No problems whatsoever:wave:

Thickness difference wont effect anything, peddle will be the same

Thanks, I guess it was a stupid question and that explains why no one was answering it.

I don't think that was a stupid question at all. I didn't see the post or I would have replied.

The experience I had is when I had the flywheel (went with Fidanza) and clutch replaced in #458, at first an L98/LT1 clutch with the stock LT5 bolts were used and the car wouldn't move. The installer didn't realize that the L98/LT1 clutch had been placed in the LT5 box and therefore didn't use the shorter bolts. The clutches looked identical from the top and the disk didn't slide down when they removed the alignment tool. Autozone made it right though, they reordered the Duralast clutch (as well as a LUK, just in case) and it/they were correct this time. Autozone (local, not Corporate) also eventually paid for the reinstall of which my installer split with me as it was partially their fault too.

Thanks. I think I am just paranoid and just want to do it right as some things on this car is just not as easy as I am used to. What the heck would I do and where would I be without the internet (Thank You Al Gore....yeah, right :mrgreen:). I appreciate you sharing your experiences and glad it was made right.
