Anyone going? I didn't even realize it was happening until I caught a post on CF today.

I wish I could go, but I am working that weekend.

Hey Jim, sorry you can't make it. Weather looks like it is shaping up to be good. Cool and overcast, no baking in the sun! Hopefully the rain stays away.

It was great weather for drag racing! It got up to maybe 80F. I met Kirk there, but we were the only ZR-1's. He wasn't running his, and he didn't show it because he's running out of trophy space! :D There was a new ZR1, but it was in the car show portion.

When we first got there, I ran through three times in a row. The third time I bogged the car really hard, and the clutch started to slip further down the run. I still managed a 12.9, but I thought maybe that was that. I let the car cool for a while, and it seemed fine, so perhaps nothing is wrong.

My best time of the day came during the bracket racing, which of course blew my chance of winning. But it felt like a real good run so I stayed in it:

60': 2.207
1/8: 8.408 @ 89.86
1/4: 12.671 @ 117.58

Thanks for the report Bob. GOOD TIMES! Sorry that I couldn't make it. Do you think that your clutch is slipping when it warms up? Come on up to Westminster. We can replace your clutch, no problem.

I made several runs after letting it cool down a lot. It seemed to be working fine. But I don't know if it overheating/giving out is a sign it is on the way out? I've never had that happen before.

I did bog the car HARD though on the launch of that run. So perhaps that put more heat into it. Then in 1st near the top it slipped and caught a bit. It threw me off at first, like ASR kicked in or something, except I don't have ASR. Then in 2nd it really slipped a lot. I should have gotten out of it, but I was racing a friend and had to run him down! It slipped a lot through 2nd, but 3rd held pretty well and I caught him up with a 12.9 @ 113mph.

I think if I replace the clutch, I'd think hard about a Fidanza flywheel... :D

Thanks for the offer Jim! I may take you up on it.

My friend has a new (to him) LT4 that is bone stock. It ran great, he had a best ET of around 13.2 and was running 108-109mph through the traps. I knew it would be strong, but that MPH was stronger than I thought. I'm going to have to watch out once he starts with the mods!

Here's me and my buddy's LT4, and another friend who came down with us on his CBR:

Hi Bob, you did very good. Your car was running very very strong, super et and mph. You and Jim have to get up there together and make a few runs. Jim can cut a mean light. Nice to see a Z run the 1/4.

Kirk.
