It sure sounds like it. I wonder if Alonso knew of this part of their strategy? I'd assume so. He also was "in the know" about McLaren's use of Ferrari intellectual property. It makes me think less of him as a driver, being part of such tactics.
However, I wonder how pervasive this is in F1. It might be surprisingly common...

Now I've seen some reports that Piquet might have been the one to actually suggest crashing on purpose to attone for a poor qualification attempt? And he's the whistle blower? This is a very strange story!
