I am considerig changing my coils and plug wires since I am unsure how long they have been on the car. For those who have done this, did you go with very pricy and tough to find AC Delco LT5 labeled plug wires or with another brand?

Wires with the LT5 stamped on them are very hard to come by...and if you find a set you are going to pay around $300+ for them. It's not the LT5 stamped on them that make them the best performing or even the only replacement wires recommended. There are several sets available that will do the job. The same goes for the coils...there are other suitable substitutes.

SC,
I put a set of MSD 8.5s on mine along with MSD coils. Did that last year and I am very pleased with how they are working. If you're interested I have a set of OEM LT-5 wires (pre-owned) but in nice shape.

I would go with the AC Deleco replacement wires. They can be had in the $40's and they are identical to stock except the white lettering.
The market price on the OEM the spark plug wires now is definitely over $350. The last few sets I've seen sell on ebay were like $425 and $450.

Yeah, a major ZR-1 parts company on the Internet is asking $490.00 +shipping. That's a lot for plug wires unless you are doing the NCRS thing.

You can go with the replacement AC Delco wires and new delco coils. PM Jeffvette, he usually stocks these and pricing is very reasonable.

Id like to have a set of the originals but wouldnt even pay half of what these guys want for them. Its just a matter of time until the aftermarket starts making these. The AC Delco replacements work just fine.

I wouldn't bid them up.... They could hit $550 PLUS.
I wish they would go for $400. :)

I guess we know what you are bidding ;)
I started the bid asking the seller if they have LT-5 on them and each wire with a number.......they do :D
For a while I thought I was the only one who knew what they really are :pray

Thats insane, the only difference between these and the OEM replacements is some lettering.

Is that what the factory plastic looks like on a unopened set of plug wires?
Funny thing is they are just some silk screened letters and numbers can't believe they bring this much
I have a couple of sets of used ones that ohm out just fine anyone interested?:dancing

Has anyone ever come across or know the availability of a set of wires for the LT5, that is black?
LT5 and plug number lettering is not necessary or a requirement.

I am running black Taylor wires right now. I had black Nology wires on but they were not compatible with my MSD box. The Nology wires are expensive, $250+.
Needless to say, I have an extra set of those wires that I would sell. I wish I could use them, they are very nice.

Wonder if one of our bro's got 'em. Gotta be for someone going for NCRS, no other reason to pay that much. I think the AC Delco's can be had for about $50.

I agree, I would not even pay $100 for LT5 wires.

msd make a great set of wires for our cars. they run about 90. they are alittle long so one has to shorten 3 of them so they fit right but they seem to take the heat well and i have had a set on my blk 90 for 5 yrs and 100k mile and they still are in great shape .

Four guys/gals bid over $300 not including the two guys/gals that bid over $500. So....there is yet someone looking for a set of $500 plug wires for a ZR1 and four guys that would pay you over $300 :D
